Preserving West Marin's Rural Character
West Marin’s rural character comes from its parks, open spaces, agricultural lands, and family farms. Thanks to the visionary forethought and hard work of many champions of the environment, including Peter Behr, Marty Griffin and EAC founder Jerry Friedman, much of West Marin is protected as federal, state, or county parkland. But even parks need protection, support, and restoration to ensure that they remain healthy, diverse, and beautiful for future generations.
West Marin is also lucky to have many farmers and ranchers who value the environment and who work to produce healthy food and protect our native ecosystems. As the price of land escalates, the pressure to convert agricultural lands to residential developments increases. EAC is working to support ecologically-minded farmers and ranchers and to stop the loss of agricultural lands.
