Salmon Safe Certification Program

EAC in partnership with Marin Organic and Salmon Safe Oregon

The Environmental Action Committee of West Marin is excited to announce a new partnership with Marin Organic and Salmon Safe Oregon. The Salmon Safe program is designed to certify farmers and ranchers in West Marin who practice environmental stewardship of our salmon streams and riparian habitat.

Salmon Safe certified operations must follow strict guidelines developed over three years by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and Salmon Safe Oregon to ensure that the wild Coho salmon and Steelhead populations in Marin's waterways continue to grow and flourish.

The program offers a stringent certification process, technical help to meet the standards if needed, and a recognizable label, which designates a product as grown with the health of local waterways and resident wildlife in mind. EAC has been integral in securing the much needed funding required to help certify environmentally friendly producers in Marin County.

Please help us support this program by making a tax-deductible donation to the EAC’s Salmon Certification Fund. This will help us expand the Salmon Safe certification program to test all salmon-friendly agricultural producers in West Marin.

Also, support the program as a consumer by purchasing items with the Marin Organic Salmon Safe label at Farmers' Markets, restaurants, and natural food stores throughout Marin. For questions about Salmon Safe certification and more information, please contact the EAC office at (415) 663-9312.
