Point Reyes and the San Andreas Fault Zone: Aerial Photographs of Robert Campbell Book Release and Visual Presentation.

Friday April 11, 7 p.m. at the Dance Palace Community Center. Free.

The wild coastline and spectacular scenery of one of America¹s greatest natural treasures have been captured from a unique perspective in a new book of fine art photographs by internationally acclaimed aerial photographer Robert Campbell, with text by Forest Knolls-based writer Frank Binney. Point Reyes and the San Andreas Fault Zone: Aerial Photographs of Robert Campbell is the culmination of Campbell¹s nearly 40 years of repeated flights over the Point Reyes peninsula, interpreting the countryside in unique compositions as the weather and seasons change.

Join us for a big screen visual presentation of Robert Campbell’s photographs with narration by Frank Binney. Copies of the book and poster-size prints will be available for purchase at the event. Call 415-663-9312 for details.

Fire Safe Landscaping

Monday May 12 - 7:00-8:30pm at the Dance Palace Community Center

With appropriate plants that are well spaced and maintained, your landscape can be more fire resistant and beautiful at the same time! Non-vegetative elements such as rocks and walkways can also reduce the chance of a fire reaching your home.  This presentation will include excerpts from "Marin on Fire" a film recently produced by FIRESafe Marin, and a slideshow with examples of fire prone plants and more fire resistant alternatives. Conserving water and avoiding invasive species will also be emphasized.

The Undersea Wonders of Cordell Bank

Tentative Date: “July 16th”

Presented by Jennifer Stock, the education and outreach coordinator for Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary.

Off the coast of Point Reyes, another world begins. Just 6 miles west of Point Reyes Lighthouse, Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary begins. The Sanctuary's main feature is Cordell Bank, an underwater granitic mountain sitting on top of the seafloor. The Bank itself is an oasis for hundreds of species of invertebrates and fishes. The productive waters that surround and move around Cordell Bank are foraging waters for highly migratory species like albatrosses, shearwaters, humpback, and blue whales. Learn about this hidden mysterious environment and take a peek at what scientists see through the porthole of a submersible.
