Help EAC Keep Tomales Bay State Park Open
It is unfortunate that Governor Schwarzenegger has proposed deep budget cuts for so many important programs in the state of California. Thanks to his request for California State Parks to cut 10% from its 2008 budget, Tomales Bay State Park is proposed for closure after Labor Day weekend.
While there are many opportunities for recreation and outdoor enjoyment in West Marin, Tomales Bay State Park is unique. The park provides affordable, easily accessible opportunities for people to enjoy Tomales Bay’s beaches and bayside trails and to swim in its warmer waters. The closure of Tomales Bay State Park, which has higher attendance than many other parks, will have a disproportionately negative effect on both the West Marin and Bay Area public.
Fortunately, while the park is proposed for closure, there is still time to influence the outcome. The California State Legislature will make the final decision, so if you don’t want Tomales Bay State Park to close, please join us in contacting our legislators. Tell them how important Tomales Bay State Park is to you and the thousands of people who use it every year. The more people that contact our state representatives the better the opportunity we have to prevent the closures.
If you live in Marin and southeastern Sonoma, please contact Assemblymember Jared Huffman and Senator Carol Migden and ask for their help to prevent the closure:

Remember, a strong show of public support could stop the proposal to close Tomales Bay State Park. Join is in this effort and help to protect the public’s right to experience the wonders of Tomales Bay and the entire state park system.
