EAC, Wildcoast, the Nature Conservancy, and UCSD student advocating for coastal protections at 2018 Oceans Day!

EAC traveled to Sacramento on February 20th for the annual oceans day, a day of lobbying by environmental NGOs, students, concerned individuals, and other groups. EAC's staff, joined by a dedicated EAC member, met with state legislators about important coastal advocacy issues like plastic pollution, offshore oil drilling, marine protected areas (MPAs), overfishing, desalination, coastal access, and offshore wind power.

We advocated in support of key coastal protection bills including: Levine's AB-1097 (state beach and parks smoking ban), Calderon's AB-1884 (straws upon request), and Gonzalez Fletcher's AB-2369 (increased MPA violation fines).

Stay tuned for EAC's work with local youth on reducing single-use plastic straws at West Marin restaurants!
