Piper on the Ridge

Join us for the annual, Piper on the Ridge, a West Marin tradition atop Mount Vision on Friday, October 6 with bagpiper Dan McNear, and special guests, including park ranger and master of ceremonies Mia Monroe, award-winning storyteller and artist Ane Carla Rovetta, and naturalist Todd Plummer.

We will meet at 5:30 pm at the second to last parking lot on top of Mount Vision Road in Point Reyes National Seashore (weather permitting, closed in the case of extreme fire danger) and climb uphill roughly .5 mile to the peak where our Piper will be serenading us. If high fire danger we will move to Tomales Point/Pierce Point.

Guests are encouraged to find a cozy spot to spread their blankets, before we hear Park Ranger Mia Monroe and Ane Carla Rovetta share a seasonal poem and story with us. The sounds of the Highland bagpipes will filter throughout our evening on the ridge as we toast to the setting sun (6:46 pm) and the rise of the full moon (7:49 pm).

Following the moon rise, guests will be invited back down to the parking area for a night sky talk with Todd Plummer, weather permitting.

Please dress warmly, and bring blankets, a flashlight, a warm beverage, and a picnic dinner. Scopes or binoculars optional for viewing the night sky. Questions? Contact us (415) 663.9312.
