Litter Bugs Me

Join Us To Help Our Watersheds & Wildlife

West Marin receives over 2 million visitors a year and is a gateway community to national and state parks, open spaces, agricultural lands, and a thriving residential community. Throughout the year, our roadsides, creeks, and beaches accumulate trash that ends up in the watershed and eventually right into our creeks and ocean.

To help combat the problem, we host roadside and beach clean-ups. There are week-long roadside clean-ups in the Spring and Fall, and we host beach clean-ups throughout the year.

This community effort helps support clean water, healthy watersheds, habitats, and safer wildlife corridors in coastal and riparian zones while also getting the community outside to protect what we love about West Marin. Learn how to get involved, register, and/or sponsor the event below.

Our efforts are now joined by Cleaner California Coast— a tri-county collaboration between Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Leave No Trace to reduce coastal pollution.

Have you seen a hot spot for trash in
coastal Marin that you want to identify?

Contact Leslie Adler-Ivanbrook, or call (415) 663.9312
to report it, sign up to help coordinate or join the clean-up effort.

Give Back

sponsoring this community cleanup effort:

Sponsor Litter Bugs Me and Coastal Clean Up Day at the $150 level or higher and help us coordinate our community into action!

Our staff works tirelessly to bring these events to life, gathering dedicated volunteers from around coastal Marin in the field to make an actionable difference for our watershed, habitats, and wildlife. Just scroll below to see the impact our week-long effort can make, and what would happen if these two fall events didn’t happen.

Individuals, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to sponsor this effort with a gift starting at $150+.
All gifts are 100% tax-deductible. Your support helps us coordinate groups across coastal Marin, recruit volunteers, purchase supplies, and build a stronger coalition of organizations and volunteers committed to protecting our watersheds and wildlife habitat in coastal Marin through the reduction of trash and pollution.

Plus, you will know you have helped turn the tide on trash,
and we will acknowledge your good deed on our website, at the event on social media, and in any print or press.
In-kind donations of safety vests/gear, reusable bags/buckets, gloves,
and/or drinks, snacks, or appreciation gifts for the volunteers are also accepted.

A big THANKS to Recology Sonoma Marin for their previous donation of the use of their waste and recycling bins for our collection and sorting of roadside trash.

And another big THANKS to KWMR Radio for supporting supporting outreach for this event and sponsoring refreshments for a volunteer appreciation gathering after the event in 2022.
